IMLP Triathlon Camp #3 June 14th -17th 2018 @ Lake Placid

Join us this year in your preparation for the 20th anniversary of Ironman® Lake Placid

For the past six years, our camps have grown into a special 4-day event that not only provides a great training and learning experience but also a fantastic opportunity to make new friends and share training and racing experiences for a long time after. Every year we have provided the highest quality training experience and the highest quality accommodations Lake Placid has to offer.

 

Your training itinerary will keep you busy and will include;

  • Thursday Night: An open water swim clinic complete with surface and subsurface video to improve your technique.
  • Friday Morning: A two lap swim in Mirror Lake completely supported followed by breakfast back at the resort.
  • Friday Post Swim: A brief prepare your race day nutrition and equipment lecture by our coaches that have raced and prepared athletes for IMLP over the last six years.
  • Friday Afternoon: Ride the run course. This is a great opportunity to see the course point by point and get in a little recovery ride as well.
  • Friday Evening: Dinner on the town or BBQ at the house. (not included in the price) Then off to bed to get some rest before Saturday’s long day.
  • Saturday Morning: Early breakfast then off to the oval to get started on the bike course. Our Sag support is second to none and has always been one the highest praises we receive at every camp. Forward vehicles provide signs and decorations for every athlete while our trailer vehicle is there to aid for any special need or emergency. This year support and direction will be more important than ever with a new bike course in the making that our coaches have ridden in advance.
  • Saturday Post Ride: Those that have a brick scheduled will be supported on your run by our SAG team as well.
  • Saturday Afternoon: Enjoy a relaxing soak in the hot tub or recover with our Normatec recovery Boots. (only the best for our campers)
  • Saturday Evening: A great camp BBQ is always a fun way to go over the past three days of training and ask our coaches questions.
  • Sunday Morning: Whatever distance or time run that is on your schedule our coaches again will provide SAG all along the course until the last runner is in.
  • Sunday Afternoon: Check out

Open Water Streamline Swimming for Triathlete @ Marions Camp

At our clinic, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your stroke so you can swim farther and faster than ever, and experience group swims in open water.

This camp is designed for beginner and intermediate swimmers seeking streamlined swimming instruction in the open water.

This is a technique-focused clinic, teaching you to swim in open water with greater ease and flow, which allows you to swim long distances utilizing thousands of effortless uninterrupted strokes. Our camp is perfect for triathletes seeking to exit the water fresh and ready for the bike.

Prerequisites

It is highly recommended that attendees be able to swim 400 yards/meters comfortably to obtain the greatest benefit from this open water experience.

Day 1 Foundation- drills and skills to correct all of the stroke faults and habits that keep athletes from swimming smoothly without effort. We’ll get an in-depth progression towards a stroke the offers continuing possibilities for improvement, and move through skill work to finish the day finding efficient, effortless stroke segments.

Total Immersion Certified Coach - Level 1 300 x 300Day 2  With the foundation established on day 1, we’ll continue fine-tuning skill sets in breathing, kicking, propulsion, recovery, and more. We’ll learn to use measuring tools for speed improvement and gain valuable understanding of how to continue smart training beyond the weekend. We’ll film from multiple angles above and underwater in both sessions, so there will be extensive video analysis and post-workshop focus lists for each swimmer.

All film clips will be available on a private Dropbox folder.

1. Cooperate with Gravity – Most swimmers fight gravity trying to stay on top of the water. We teach you to find your natural equilibrium by sinking into weightlessness. Learning to relax into the water breaks the “survival- stroking” cycle, and frees your arms and legs for their best use. Besides, gravity is a powerful natural force; doesn’t it make more sense to use it than fight it?

2. Take the Path of Least Resistance – Once you understand that you must swim through the water — and mindful that water is almost 800 times denser than air — it’s logical to focus more on how well you streamline than how you pull and kick. We’ll teach you to shape yourself to cut through the water like a torpedo by alternating a right-side-streamline with a left-side-streamline. Each stroke will move you farther and faster with less effort.

3. Swim with your Body – Traditional thinking about swimming treats the body as having an “arms department” that pulls you forward and a “legs department” that pushes you forward. In Streamline Freestyle, you swim with your whole body, instead of your arms and legs. We’ll teach you to propel with a simple kick, relaxed and rhythmic weight shifts, rather than arm-and-leg churning.

4. Breathe Easy – We’ll also teach you about breathing easily as you swim. No more breathlessness, no worries about choking. The air is free, take all you need.

Colorado Trail Camp August 16th 2018 to August 19th 2018 @ Estes Park

After a 2 year hiatus Daily Fit Book Camps have taken over the ever popular Colorado Trail Running Weekend.

This has always been a special weekend enjoyed over the years by trail enthusiast worldwide. 2018 promises to be better than any prior experience.

Upon your arrival on Thursday afternoon, we will enjoy our first shakeout run across Lumpy Ridge. This rolling terrain will give you your first view of the magnificent Rocky Mountain National Park and the incredible sites you’ll experience all weekend. Be prepared to see countless number of Elk along this run grazing in the fields immediately to the left of the trail. Post run will include a trip over to our favorite food location Ed’s Cantina, with a great selection of fresh Mexican Cuisine and the best Margaritas North of the Border.

Friday we head out early for a run up to Lawn Lake and back. Lawn Lake sits just above 11,000 feet. Along the trail, you will see the great ravine caused by the flood of 1984. It’s a challenging out and back totaling 12 miles, but the well-maintained trail and gradual ascent make it doable for every level of runner or hiker.

After lunch back at the house or a stroll through town, it’s always fun to do a nice relaxing hike up to Gem Lake where the views of Estes Park are breathtaking and unforgettable.

 

Saturday is the Big Kahuna Day. We will get a very early start. The run begins at Bear Lake, elevation 9400 feet. After a group photo session, we will start what will truly be the most remarkable run/hike of your life. It is a challenging 4-mile run/hike up to Flat Top elevation 12,800 feet. Depending on the Spring snows this may even include crossing a snowfield at 12,000 feet. Once on top of Flat Top, you have a 360-degree view of the what seems like the entire planet. From Flat Top, we will run across the Continental Divide before starting the amazing descent into Grand Lake. The total mileage for the day is near 18. However, we provide a no runner or hiker is left behind environment. There will be guides and support for all levels. When we hit Grand Lake the group will gather for lunch and laughs, filled with stories of all the magnificence we just experienced.

Our chase vehicles will get us back to Estes and the house where we can shower share some more stories before heading over to our good friend Nick’s Lumpy Ridge Brewery, where you can enjoy some of the best craft beer Colorado has to offer.

The weekend will end with a nice relaxing shakeout/recovery run/hike in Moraine Park where you will have a final chance to see 100’s of Elk in their natural environment.

Every year we have provided the highest quality training experience and the highest quality accommodations Lake Placid has to offer.

Accommodations are a key to recovery between workouts. This year will be the best yet. You will stay in our luxury resort home just a few steps away from Lake Placid. Our 8 bedroom, 6 full bathroom home with two full kitchens, a dining room that seats 20 is located on a mountain stream at the Whiteface Club and Resort. We have access to WFC’s private beach. We store 3 kayaks and 2 stand up paddle boards (SUP) for your exclusive use. There are two restaurants at the Club one at the marina and the other at the golf course. Each bedroom has its own TV. There are two game rooms one with an arcade quality Foosball and one with Superchexx bubble hockey each with 60″ TVs.
